Amie’s nomination

Amie was nominated by: Sarah Chand (former Regional Probation Director, Probation Service – West Midlands)

Comments from Amy Ramswell (Senior Probation Officer):

Amie Mole is an excellent Case Administrator (CA). I can say that from being a Probation Officer and now Senior Probation Officer who has and does work alongside her. She always achieves excellent results and consequently, is involved in a number of tasks as well as her own CA role.

Amie has taken on the work of the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub over the last 6 months to ensure that staff are getting the information that Children’s Services require in quick succession. Due to her relationships with staff, this has worked exceptionally well allowing this function to run smoothly. She is also the one of three CA’s in the Integrated Offender Management (IOM) team here at Coventry. She takes minutes for all of the meetings, she collaborates all the information and joins in when managers at both Police and Probation meet to discuss our IOM Scheme.

Amie is able to communicate really well with outside agencies which then allows staff in our team (who may not be as confident) to see her communication and echo this – this creates really good working relationships. Amie also co-ordinates the IOM team well and does not mince her words. However, this is always said within the context of friendship and professionalism and has created, over the years, a really special bond within the IOM team here at Coventry.

It has been an extremely difficult year. We are not out of the woods yet, but Amie has continued to work at a high level and will often go out of her way to help others who are not in her team. She has had a really difficult couple of years herself, I really do not know what we would do without her. She is the glue in our office and I would like this to be recognised.

Comments from Hannah Darby (Deputy Head of Coventry Probation Delivery Unit):
Amie has played a huge role in supporting Probation to contribute to Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) assessments, at a time when Probation staff resources has meant there is no designated MASH PSO. There has been a significant uplift in responses to MASH assessments, from under 10% to over 90% since Amie has been supporting. Her work is promoting a positive working relationship with MASH colleagues, and contributes to the safeguarding of children.

Comments from Kerry Handley (West Midlands Police):
Managing offenders is a demanding and dynamic role which requires excellent communication and partnership working to collectively achieve positive outcomes. Amie is a crucial cog in a machine without which would not function well. She is consistent in her delivery of accurate and timely information gathering and sharing which allows for our police officers and probation officers to work together to effectively manage offenders. Amie has worked closely with police to identify areas of improvement in our partnership working processes and has been integral to the implementation of new processes which allow for a more cohesive partnership. Amie has her own unique style, she is direct, she gets the job done and she is also a pleasure to work alongside.

Comments from Joy Johnson (Team Manager of Coventry Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub):
Amie has played a major role in the development of joint work between Probation Services and MASH and in ensuring that Probation contribute to MASH assessments. This information is key to Children’s Services making the right decisions for children and in promoting effective multi-agency working.

Comments from Kirsty Baker (Head of Coventry Probation Delivery Unit):
Amie has been a CA in Coventry for 18 years. She works in Coventry IOM Pod and supports our local information exchange process with the MASH. We know that Amie will not enjoy the attention that this nomination will bring to her but we hope that she will understand why we wish to express our appreciation and acknowledge the very real difference that Amie’s contribution has made to partnership working in Coventry!

In conclusion

Admin staff are the absolute foundation of our business and I am so delighted to be nominating Amie for this award. We do not always immediately think of our Case Administrators as having a strong role or influence with partners, but this nomination demonstrates just how much of a part they can play.

Safeguarding children is an absolutely critical part of our work in HMPPS and to see that Amie has enabled her PDU to improve from 10% to over 90% in responses to MASH assessments is a testament to the impact of her work. The testimonies from both her own colleagues but also our partners, reflect the high regard in which she is held and indicate just what a huge difference she has made.

It is always hard to evidence what offences and injuries have been avoided by proactive work, but I am clear from this nomination that Amie has actively helped protect and safeguard many potential vulnerable victims. I am proud to support this nomination.
